The Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation provides scholarships to support young people who, in fighting diseases like aplastic anemia, MDS, or PNH, may have had to interrupt their studies, extracurricular activities or jobs due to their health condition and treatments, and whose families find it financially difficult to afford higher education.

The Matthew Debono Memorial Scholarship was established in 1986 by Sally and Manuel Debono in memory of their son, Matthew, who was unable to complete his college degree.

In addition to having a bone marrow failure disease diagnosis, scholarship applicants must be high school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll, or are enrolled in a full or part-time (minimum six credits) undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited two or four-year college, university, vocational-technical school or graduate school. Applicants must be age 35 and under. Awards range from $1,000 - $2,000 per student.
